So Rude, sometimes, it is!!

Wednesday, August 30:When it comes to personal affairs, actions always speak louder than words. If you're not calling this person back, there's a reason. Be honest with yourself. If it's not working out, cut them loose ASAP.
Someone from your past wants reentry into your life. You can extend an invitation if you like -- but delve into your memory first. Is there a reason why you two had a rift in the past? If so, you might want to stay firm.

Digging Forest Technology

A Sardarji went to US and had a meeting with Bill Clinton.

Bill: I want to show you the USadvancement. Come with me.

He takes him to a forest.

Bill: Dig the ground. Sardarji did it.

Bill: more...more...more... Sardarji went up to 100 feet.

Bill: So now, try to search something.

Sardarji: I got a wire.

Bill: you know, it shows that even 100 years ago we used to have
telephones.

Sardarji became frustrated. He invited Bill to India. Next year Bill was in
India

Sardarji : I want to show you our advancement. The same...he takes Bill to
a forest.

Sardarji: Dig it. Bill does.

Sardarji : more...more...m.?l. Bill goes up to almost 400 feet..

Sardarji : try to find something. Bill tries.

Sardarji : Did you get anything?

Bill : No, there is nothing here.

Sardarji: you know, it shows that even 400 years ago we used to have
WIRELESS!!

Two days that matched 100%

Tuesday, August 22:

This person has rejected you in the past, but suddenly he or she comes back into your life. Should you extend the olive branch? Sure -- but you don't have to risk your heart again, especially if your gut says not to.

Wednesday, August 23:

So the romantic sizzle went fizzle between you and a recent prospect. Even when things don't work out, you know that you were better off for following your instincts. You're so much wiser now.

The Source of Silver Foil in Sweets :- ONE MUST READ THIS

USA, Aug 23 (VNN) - A couple of years ago, Indian Airlines, the
domestic air-carrier of India had issued instructions to its
suppliers to supply sweet without silverfoil called VARAKH. Do you
know why?

Silver is widely used for various purposes in the market today.
Silver is considered precious and its utility is enormous. The
reason behind this is that silver reflects back 95% of the light
energy that falls on it. The silver foils used for edible purposes
is called VARAKH So what's so special about VARAKH?

This is what I would like to bring to your notice.

If you keenly observe this VARAKH under a microscope don be
perturbed if you happen to see traces of blood, stools and saliva of
a cattle or ox.

VARAKH is a silver foil and we have no second questions on this, but
to prepare this VARAKH important parts of the CATTLE/OX is made use
of.

Intestines of Cattle/OX are obtained from the slaughterhouse. This
is obtained after butchering to death the cattle/ox for beef and the
part, which cannot be consumed: the intestines are pulled out of the
animal and handed over to the manufacturers of VARAKH. Before
handing over the intestines, they are washed in the slaughterhouse
to get rid of the blood and other remains on these intestines in the
limited facility that is present in the slaughterhouse. We are not
sure how neatly this job is carried out. Intestines are cut into
small pieces and then are bound together as pages in a notebook.

A silver block is placed in the middle of these bound intestines,
and the whole thing is placed in a leather bag and sealed. Experts,
who know how to make VARAKH, pound the bag with wooden sticks, till
the entire bag flattens out. The silver block would by this time be
turned into silver foil. This Silver foil would now be separated
from the intestine pack and will be placed on paper.

This is VARAKH, which reaches the market ready for use. Even staunch
vegetarians, who shy away from egg, unknowingly consume this as a
part of sweet, pan and arecanut. Some unknowingly consume this
because of the additional taste that VARAKH provides.

Now the question is "Why the intestines of the cattle/ox? Why not
something else?" The reason behind using the intestines of the
cattle/ox for preparing the VARAKH is because of the elasticity of
the intestines. They do not get cut even after a severe pounding.

This aspect is brought out in the magazine "Beauty without cruelty"
and the Television show of Maneka Gandhi, "Heads and Tails". In
India, on an average an estimate indicates that 2,75,000 kilos of
"VARAKH" is consumed. Can you estimate how many cattle/ox are
sacrificed for just a bit of taste?

If you are surprised as I am, after reading this article please
inform as many as possible so as to ensure that we unknowingly don't
consume beef.

I would like to thank the authors of this article in Taranga, a
weekly magazine in Kannada, for enlightening us.

Just because I had wanted you to know this...

Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Cos I'd already know

What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you

More than words

Now I've tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close don't ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Cos I'd already know

What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you

Meet Donald!

Donald is very happy. I finally fixed his floor with pebbles. *GARY SUK SUK ALMOST KILLED HIM WITH ONE!!! BAD GUY!!!* I also fitted a water filter for him. Everytime I sit down to eat at my desk he comes up and watches me as if asking me when was I going to feed him next. Hahaha. He loves the dry worms and gobbles them up real fast. But he has to stay without food for this weekend because I don't plan to go towards the office. Or may be I will. ;-))
With no plants in his tank (to save space) I think he has no option. So may be I will get one from LL and put it in there...

More Babies and Rain

Saturday, August 19:
A romantic interest is asking far too much of you. You're naturally such a giver that it doesn't occur to you that this is a serious breach of your boundaries. Be a grown-up. Learn to say no and mean it.
Sunday, August 20:
Romance doesn't always have to be difficult -- that's just an idea you've picked up from books and movies! For right now, let affection, dating and love be effortless. You'll enjoy yourself so much more.

News to share is that Sush is almost a mom. :-) She has been a very close friend since primary school and we keep on teasing each other every now and then...well she finally beat me to it and is having her baby with Rajesh. Here is a pic. Her parents, brother and his wife are now in the States visiting her. Such a special time for her. I wish her a very good time ahead. :-)
Mano left me a yahoo and orkut to say that he is a proud Dad now of his baby boy - VANSH.
He named the baby after me? VANSH - Very ANSH hahahaha *hugs*. Congrats...Here are the baby's first pics.

After the mentally exhausting months at work and almost no qi gong I was so afraid that I would not be able to help anybody. Last month I had given up the healing date with my patients because I met someone who seemed special enough to stop and spend more time with. But they have other plans and I don't figure in them, so I just decided to move on and get back my life on the right track.
This time the hall was full of so many people! Some students and mostly patients. There were a few people who could converse in English and they picked me out. I was so scared. I was not sure whether I could help them any more. And with that I began. I remembered Master Yan's words, you need to believe in yourself. And so I had to push the negative thoughts out and trust myself. I began slowly. But I was amazed how strong I could feel it this time. It was full of power. I cannot explain the amount of concentration I put in. And it worked. I healed 4 patients before we began the group healing in which I built a ball of qi around me and sat down to meditate until well after the music had stopped, the lights had come back on and people were staring down at me. hahaha...The master and old students told the new people that I am quite strong. Well, most of it was in Cantonese. That's all I could make out. In the end I felt so peaceful inside. I know I have the power to heal others. But the beginning is with you. You have to open your mind and let me come inside. You have to believe in me. You have to believe that I can heal you and then I will.
I also thought about myself. A completely stressed out person, I need a holiday. I need a good time. I need more dancing. I need to enjoy my life. I have somehow forgotten how happy I was before. And now I want it all back. I deleted all the numbers of people who have been playing with me, from my cellphone. In a matter of days, I will wipe my mind clear of their numbers. Its a new beginning. I need new friends and I need to hook up with my old mates. Chuck the selfish people out of my life. I want a give-take relationship not a one-way traffic where I am called in when only I am wanted. I have my needs to be happy. I have my needs to feel good. I have my needs to feel wanted, liked and loved. And from now on, I will hang out with people who make me feel happy. So, Goodbye! Your problem is your own. I have my own problems. I cannot make your problems mine...that's simple to grasp, I guess.
I met a few people last night and some of us hit Sugar again. AC seemed busy with his new home. Both EW and CL were busy with some farewell party because Cals is moving to Seoul for a few months. Must be so tough on his partner and him. I hope it doesn't affect their relationship. Back at Sugar, the raid continued and somehow I found myself face to face with K again. Hahaha. Its funny how we seem to bump into each other during the raids. I was actually singing in Mandarin when a few gals asked my friends why I was doing that...hahaha...dummies...It had been pouring down bloody badly when we went there and most of us were drenched to the skin. I found a trio from Singapore...They are from Europe but they work in Singapore and were in HK on holiday...I made them laugh for a while and then told them to move here. Sings sucks sometimes...esp if you don't know where to go on party nights...
I have bought a new wireless router after my old one conked out. Netgear sucks. It didn't even last a few months!!! So I am happily using my iBook again. :-)
Hmm need to figure out what to do tonight. May be go dancing again because that is something that keeps me happy :-)
Tomorrow I am headed to Macau. Need to dig out my passport...I haven't been there since Dec 2001!!! So it would be nice to go back there with a slightly better camera. K got free tickets from his company and so I was invited alongwith 2 more friends and hope we have a great great time! The weather looks to be quite hot!!
Until new pics come....just manage to hang on to the oxygen cylinder somehow,,mateys...

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

Claude Arpi writes about the 10 things he loves about India.
Sri Aurobindo wrote - For three thousand years at least, -it is indeed much longer, -she has been creating abundantly and incessantly, lavishly, with an inexhaustible manysidedness, republics and kingdoms and empires, philosophies and cosmogonies and sciences and creeds and arts and poems and all kinds of monuments, palaces and temples and public works, communities and societies and religious orders, laws and codes and rituals, physical sciences, psychic sciences, systems of Yoga, systems of politics and administration, arts spiritual, arts worldly, trades, industries, fine crafts, - the list is endless and in each item there is almost a plethora of activity. She creates and creates and is not satisfied and is not tired; she will not have an end of it, seems hardly to need a space for rest, a time for inertia and lying fallow European critics complain that in her ancient architecture, sculpture and art there is no reticence, no holding back of riches, no blank spaces, that she labours to fill every rift with ore, occupy every inch with plenty. Well, but defect or no, that is the necessity of her superabundance of life, of the teeming of the infinite within her. She lavishes her riches because she must, as the Infinite fills every inch of space with the stirring of life and energy because it is the Infinite.

True Promise! (as on email)

This is a very touching story...read on...

"How long will you be poring over that newspaper? Will you come here right away and make your darling daughter eat her food?"

I tossed the paper away and rushed to the scene. My only daughter Sindu looked frightened. Tears were welling up in her eyes. In front of her was a bowl filled to its brim with Curd Rice.
Sindu is a nice child, quite intelligent for her age. She has just turned eight. She particularly detested Curd Rice. My mother and my wife are orthodox and believe firmly in the 'cooling effects'of Curd Rice. I cleared my throat and picked up the bowl.

"Sindu, darling, why don't you take a few mouthful of this Curd Rice? Just for Dad's sake, dear. If you don't, your Mom will shout at me."

I could sense my wife's scowl behind my back. Sindu softened a bit and wiped her tears with the back of her hands.
"OK, Dad. I will eat not just a few mouthfuls, but the whole lot of this. But, you should..." Sindu hesitated. "Dad, if I eat this entire Curd Rice, will you give me whatever I ask for?"
"Oh sure, darling."
"Promise?"
"Promise."

I covered the pink soft hand extended by my daughter with mine and clinched the deal.
"Ask Mom also to give a similar promise," my daughter insisted.
My wife slapped her hand on Sindu's muttering "Promise," without any emotion.

Now I became a bit anxious.
"Sindu, you shouldn't insist on getting a computer or any such expensive items. Dad does not have that kind of
money right now. OK?"
"No, Dad. I do not want anything expensive."

Slowly and painfully, she finished eating the whole quantity. I was silently angry with my wife and my mother for forcing my child to eat something that she detested.
After the ordeal was through, Sindu came to me with her eyes wide with expectation. All of our attention was on her.

"Dad, I want to have my head shaved off this Sunday," was her demand!
"Atrocious!" shouted my wife, "a girl child having her head shaved off? Impossible!"

"Never in our family!" my mother rasped. "She has been watching too much of television. Our culture is getting totally spoiled with these TV programs!"

"Sindu, why don't you ask for something else? We will be sad seeing you with a clean-shaven head."
"No, Dad. I do not want anything else," Sindu said with finality.
"Please Sindu, why don't you try to understand our feelings?" I tried to plead with her.
"Dad, you saw how difficult it was for me to eat that Curd Rice,"
Sindu was in tears. "And you promised to grant me whatever I ask for. Now, you are going back on your words. Was it not you who told me the story of King Harishchandra and its moral that we should honor our promises no matter what?"

It was time for me to call the shots. "Our promise must be kept."
"Are you out your mind?" chorused my mother and wife.
"No. If we go back on our promises, she will never learn to honour her own. Sindu, your wish will be fulfilled."

With her head clean-shaven, Sindu had a round-face, and her eyes looked big and beautiful.

On Monday morning, I dropped her at her school. It was a sight to watch my hairless Sindu walking towards her classroom. She turned around and waved.
I waved back with a smile. Just then, a boy alighted from a car, and shouted, "Sinduja, please wait for me!"
What struck me was the hairless head of that boy. Maybe that is the ‘in' stuff," I thought.

"Sir, your daughter Sinduja is great indeed!"
Without introducing herself, a lady got out of the car, and continued,
"That boy who is walking along with your daughter is my son Harish. He is suffering from Leukemia."
She paused to muffle her sobs.
"Harish could not attend the school for the whole of the last month. He lost all of his hair due to the side effects of the chemotherapy. He refused to come back to school fearing the unintentional but cruel teasing of the schoolmates. Sinduja visited him last week and promised him that she will take care of the teasing issue. But I never imagined she would sacrifice her lovely hair for the sake of my son! Sir, you and your wife are blessed to have such a noble soul as your daughter."

I stood transfixed. And then, I wept.
"My little Angel, will you teach me what love is?"

Jesus - The Saver (as on email)

Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God Was tired of hearing all the bickering.
Finally fed up, God said,"THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job."

So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.
They moused.
They faxed.
They e-mailed.
They e-mailed with attachments.
They downloaded.
They did spreadsheets.
They ! wrote reports.
They created labels and cards.
They created charts and graphs.
They did some genealogy reports.
They did every job known to man.
Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency, and Satan was faster than hell.

Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off.

Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.
Jesus just sighed. Finally, the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers.

Satan started searching frantically, screaming: "It's gone! It's all GONE! " I lost everything when the power went out!"
Meanwhile! , Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work.

Satan observed this and became irate. "Wait!" he screamed at God," That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?"

God just shrugged and said?...................... "Jesus saves."

Lovely Sydney

Salut! bois and gals!
I am back. Back from the lovely lovely Sydney Sydney...In case you are wondering why I am repeating my words...here is the latest sardar pj for you...
Teacher to Sardar: Make a sentence in which one word is repeated twice.
Sardar : If Lara Dutta marries Brian Lara, She will become Lara Lara.
Bolo Tararara!!! Hehehe!
And I have been having urges to butt my head into people I don't like (note: kicking others' butts is out of fashion these days)...especially after watching what you lovely people 'missed' at the Miss Universe pagent...hmmm.
Yeah, Sydney...I flew out on 30 July night. A mundane departure...nobody says goodbye to me anymore (note: that is out of fashion as well!!). So I found myself alone and gulping down wonton mien in the Wing. And walked around trying to find a place to perch down and look at my Moscow project. But then things started getting emotional. Mom’s sick and never listens to anybody. Doesn’t rest. Doesn’t take medicines. Behaves like a bad bad little girl especially after her sudden ‘baba’ related trips…this time it was Raipur!! That call was followed up by calls from other friends…hmmm….I was very interested in the DF shopping to pick up a slim card holder, a pair of shades and some whitening cream/gel for the eye…I could manage to find only the first one.
Suddenly I was racing towards the gate and got on the plane. I had planned to read/sleep. I ended up watching Steve Martin (I like the way he rolls his eyes) in the super fun Pink Panther and loved it.

After getting off the plane and passing through immigration I had to wait quite a bit in the chilly wind for sometime before the transportation arrived and I got to the Intercontinental hotel around 1pm. I checked-in and ran to work…and work, work, work, meetings, meetings, meetings I did until Friday evening.
On the first night, I was too exhausted to go anywhere and beginning to have a sore throat possibly from the 9 hours long flight. So I bought myself some chamomile tea and honey and holed up in the hotel room which was very very cold! No matter what the engineer did to fix it, it just didn’t work and I was so tired in the end, that I just asked him to get me a room-heater…the sore throat became worse despite the honey. Though the hotel has got fantastic view, the room service and the in-room dining menu sucks…If it were not for the 1.5 blocks distance to the office, I may have opted for another one. I discovered that Hilton has the perfect location!  Right next to Pitt Street Mall…and midway between Chinatown and office.
On the second night, I walked to Chinatown with a colleague. We had noodles at a place where all the chefs, in Chinatown, go to eat when they finish work! It was so yummy, mummy! (Just called Mom. She is better now. Thank God!).
Later that evening, I walked down to Circular Quay and to the Rocks. I took a few shots of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The weather was very chilly and yet lovers strolled in the park and old couples sat on benches watching the lovely sea-gulls playing around. Yes. Sea-gulls by night! I took some fantastic shots of the Sydney Opera House from across the Sydney Cove. Take a look!

That night I had changed my room at the hotel already. The view was much better. Fantastic view of the harbour, you could still catch a part of the Opera House if you looked to the left.
I woke early to shoot the sunrise and it was such a romantic moment. I really enjoyed my company! :-P hahaha…take a look at the lovely colours!!

On the third night, I holed up in the hotel room again. Tonsils had swollen up and I though I should take a rest before doing anymore sightseeing. So it was take away from a Japanese restaurant recommended by one of my colleagues, who is a motorbike racer... WOW!
On the fourth night, I headed out to Darling Harbour without my darling.  hahaha…Cockle Bay! It was a good walk. There was a boat show going on. I arrived too late to really go-in and take some pictures and so I shot the boats moored at the pier. I walked around shopping a bit. I found some good pendants and a glow tee-shirt (watch out for me at the disco this time :-P).
I watched Deep Sea (3D) movie at the Sydney IMAX. The screen was flat and that halved the fun I usually have at the world’s largest IMAX Dome theatre (in Mumbai)…
I took a cab to the hotel and ordered room service again...this time the food was worse! They can’t even cook rice!! I am definitely going to ask RL to put me in another hotel, if there is a next time.
Friday was spent in tying up some loose ends and saying goodbyes. The weather had been wretched since the morning. It was just raining and raining and raining. We did sneak out as usual for lunch…and this time I went to the Lindt Cafe at Martin Place and had a yummy hot chocolate milk!! I must cut down on the calories, mates…yeah…in my next life?! This was definitely the high point of this trip.

Kakakakakaka!
On the way to the airport, the cabbie was a Lebanese guy and it was really sad discussing the sorry state of his country at the hands of the Israelis…Nice fellow. He migrated to Australia in 1970 and is now an Australian citizen. He told me how rudely the immigration team in US had questioned his background just because his name was Abdullah…even though he was just in transit!! That happened in 1991. Now its much worse…
I walked around the airport looking for honey, shades and eye gel…I ended up buying pendants, bracelets, toys…I got the honey but no eye gel. The shades somehow did not catch my fancy. The DIOR ones looked more hideous and reminded me of the Police shot carrying Becks. No. I won’t bend. :-P
The flight was late and I was almost half dead from hunger and thirst. I had skipped the Qantas Lounge invitation earlier…the supper was light and I drank loads and loads of water, apple juice and two glasses of Pacific Sunrise.

CX hostess Geeta was so nice to me. I was a bit pissed off in the beginning because the channel showing the only movie I had wanted to watch that night (Inside Man) was only playing audio..and not really ‘showing’ video. Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh! So I decided to surrender to Lt.Col.Jon Smith’s adventures in Europe. A little later I realized that I was the only person reading on the entire plane…everybody else seemed to have gone to sleep and the hostesses back in their corner…hmm. I turned in…and turned left and right and tried to adjust in the stupid seat…I missed the good seat I had on the larger plane on the way to Sydney…this one sucked in comparision…I guess at some point CX have to get rid of these stupid seats especially when they charge astronomical rates for even short flights…but I am home anyways…The touchdown was around 5am and we had to wait a bit until Airport Express resumed service at around 6am. I reached home…My plants are still ALIVE!! Hurray to the method I had devised before (when I used to spend 2 weeks in Korea every now and then). I unpacked and turned in…The maid is still cleaning up…as my stomach has finally accepted the fact that I am NOT GOING TO FEED IT. I have hogged on the Sydney trip and now I must pay!
Planning to catch Pirates2 with K tonight. I hope I can get out for a nice dinner…and hit the disc…if I am not exhausted by then.
I did miss the super strong winds that had so many flights cancelled recently even though the HKO raised only a Typhoon signal 3 and people cursed around because they wanted to go home… Interesting name, I must mention, the typhoon was called – PRAPIROON…sounds Thai to me…let me check…Yes! It is Thai for “rain God”….and the poor stranded passengers I saw lying down in the corridors of Chep Lap Kok…
Before I say Ooroo to you (that’s Aussie for Bye) I must point you to this lovely collection of Aussie slangs that you may find handy next time you are down under. 
If I go back there again...I must do the following besides checking out the discs:

Here are rest of the snaps from this trip.

88!
