The announcement for boarding has been made...and I am headed there right now...Yeah, I shall try to send you the pics soon ;-))
Round Trip II has begun!

What AD did

Life isn't about winning and losing -- it's about how much you enjoy playing the game. Ask yourself if you're doing exactly what it is you need to be doing. If the answer is no, start making changes.

Rewind...I just was not doing enough? I had time for everything. Read, Write, Hike, Music, Disco, Cook, Chat, Movies, QG...almost everything...and then that day in December when I made up mind to change it all...full speed ahead

Present...I have no time for anything? When to read, when to write, when to hike and when to listen to music, that odd night at the disco, what is cooking, chat?!, movies hmmm may be, QG only short sessions of may be 2 minutes at max...physio, posture, pain, hope, happiness.

I am off to India again on 29 March...I have mixed feelings about the trip. I just moved into my new life, my new flat...and now I have to go away for another 2.5 weeks...but that's my job...I am afraid of putting on weight and this time I promise to eat more carefully...I will shop more for my new home and deck it up...wait for the video when I am back...

Meanwhile, the hd has been replaced and I
have managed to uninstall mcafee...avg and tauscan are on the job right now and I found backdoor trojans hanging into - guess which ebook - How to hack....*SIGH* So I am busy backing up my 20G of photo on to my laptop (I have to copy my music files to the PC first...then create space for the photos on iBook. Then I shall burn DVDs and back them up..then I can move my music files back...hmmm...then reformat the old war-horse...

C made me some siu long bao...yummy...God Bless You!

Fighting wars with Trojans and replacing HD - Part I of Triology?

In case you have been wondering where I have been for the past few weeks...I have been to India. The first business trip to India not only saw me living at The Oberoi but also eating 3 meals a day...result ? 4Kilos in 12 days. How did I let that happen to me?!!
Hours of work often lasted well past 8pm and topping it at 11pm on one night. But I did get to try out a few restaurants in South Mumbai and a Dhaba in Bandra...Will post the snaps later since I have a technical problem right now...Tendulkar's was a let down and so was Papa Poncho...But mostly good food...and hence the result...
I also managed to watch 4 movies at the INOX which is right behind the office there.

Syriana - (2*)Don't waste your time. George Clooney got an Oscar for having his nails pulled out of his fingers...or so they would have us believe...I loved the part where he is blown into the ground...deserved it. Just goes to show how full of shit the Oscars really are.

Taxi no.9211 - (4*)This one was a KOOL movie...reminded me of...well, myself and C. :-P for Nutty. Two people who cannot control their tempers cross each other's paths and end up almost killing each other. I liked Sonali's supportive role in the movie.

Malamaal Weekly - (3.5*) Someone told me this is a copy of an Irish movie...but I bet that the Indian jokes and emotions are much better. As a critic, I proudly tell you all...Bollywood movies are the best and just keep watching out for them. Paresh Rawal and Om Puri are at their hilarious best...

Rang De Basanti - (5*)Now this one is one SUPER KOOL movie...the songs are so good. I am sure AR Rehman will be more in demand especially with his role in the Lord of the Rings broadway musical. Tell you what...you cannot stay away from Indian stuff anymore...Here we come ready or not...The world is sitting up when we have already done several laps...
The night at the airport was horrible...everything was wrong...I reached around midnight to find that the check-in opens at 1:20am...so I shopped around some more and fought off mosquitoes...it was so bloody warm inside the building...well, can we really blame the authorities? I actually spotted several HK people and Europeans wearing layers of clothes...winter clothes...*ROLLING MY EYES RIGHT NOW*
Then I went in to the BA lounge which CP shares...more mosquitoes and a vegetable sandwich later, I just could not take it any more and started walking around until I ran into DAB at the boarding gate...I slept7/8 of the flying time...eeks...
Bought bean bags and xbox360 for my new home...hahaha...picture will follow around easter when I am back from India (the second trip is slated from 29M to 14A).
Two wild nights of dancing at Sugar were much of a relief...I had missed it so much...Hei Hei actually sucks...it's packed with middle-aged gweilos and people that look more like drug addicts...sucks....we walked out within 15 minutes!! hehehe
I did two movies yesterday one after the other.

8 Below - (4*) This is a must watch for all animal lovers and kids...the storyline is quite well-known right now and I am not going to add to it...

Final Destination 3 - (1*) Did not know that I could actually sit through it without feeling scared even for a second...You may skip this one.
Well, the tech problem I mentioned before is related to my desktop. It was hit with trojans after I uninstalled AVG and installed McAfee. And then after sleepless nights of trouble-shooting and painful transfer of files through 2 minute windows over the wireless network, I finally called in for professional help. The HD is blown as we suspected but he might have just managed to retrieve the data...we'll see tonight,,,what goes...
Most of my photos are backed up on my iPod Video...but Apple uses a diff folder structure (yr>mon>day) which means all your folder names have *poofed*. I hope all my data is still intact...I want to back it up before I fly out to India...have been very lazy while Mom was here and have pushed back on this one too long...and with bad results...
There is a new term 'brokeback' that's made into everybody's vocab...it's being used to refer to anything not straight. Well, lets not get into an argument of what is and what is not and why not. The movie deserved an Oscar and by denying it one, the jury have just shown how thin their judgment really is... just got told that Crush will never be released in HK...who would want to watch it anyways...hahaha.
Well, I am looking forward to some more shopping for candles, candle-stands, ear-rings, clothes, shoes, books....I bought quite a lot of books on the last trip on desserts, cocktails, taj mahal, robert ludlum copies, chinese cooking (hamlyn-I have wanted to own this for so long!!). I passed on my oriental cook book to nutty for Moms...I am going to run into Dad in Mumbai. When I do that, I am going to pass on some bottles of anti-diabetic jelly...remind me to pick them up at lunchtime tomorrow...Seibu or City Super? Depends...on a lot of To Do items on my list back in the office....I cannot believe that the weekend got over so quickly!!!

Hehehe

John works in a supermarket. A man came in and asked John for half a kilogram of butter. The boy told him they only sold 1 kg packets of butter, but the man was persistent. The boy said he'd go ask his manager what to do.
John walked into the back room and said,
"There's a bloody fellow out there who wants to buy only half a kilo of butter."
As he finished saying this he turned around to find the man standing right behind him, so he added,
"And this gentleman wants to buy the other half."

The manager finished the deal and later said to John,
"You almost got yourself in a lot of trouble earlier, but I must say I was impressed
with the way you got yourself out of it. You think on your feet, and I like it a lot.

Which place are you from?"

John replied, "I'm from Mexico , sir."

"Oh really? Why did you leave Mexico ?" asked the manager.

John replied, "They're all just prostitutes and soccer players up
there."

The manager's face became red.."My wife is from Mexico ," he said.

"Oh." John replied, "Which team did she play for?"

Hi All,
For all of you who happen to read the Economic Times, The Times of India and/or Mumbai Mirror (online / offline):
In case you pay attention and some of the journalists and the photographers from these papers keep their word, yours truly stands a chance to be featured / written about in the next couple of days.
Why:
Yours truly just managed to come Runners Up in the Mumbai round of the Brand Equity Quiz out of a total f 100+ teams that participated.
The guys at ET say that Brand Equity is Asia's biggest Business Quiz for Corporates.
What they gave me in Return:
All gifts in kind. Some needless (including Rs. 10000/- worth of Gift Coupons from an Unknown Jeans company called Spykar. Fortunately, their showroom is 15 minutes from where I work).
When I typed Start -> Run -> Calc and summed up, the figure shot up to Rs. 20000/- (approx. 465 USD)
Statutory Warning:
These Journalists unlike Samrat Choudhury are not known to keep their word. But in case you spot the words TCS,Mumbai - well you know, who made up that team.
Thats all.
Regards,
Aniruddha Dutta

One of the talking points of the ongoing Mumbai Test will be Rahul Dravid's decision to field, on a pitch that has traditionally favoured teams batting first. Rob Smyth looks at 11 classic cock-ups, ranging from South Africa's number blunder to Nasser Hussain's Gabba shocker."

Driving with two flat tyres

Cricinfo - Driving with two flat tyres: "Driving with two flat tyres". If dada was left out for his poor performance, I think it is time VSS and SRT were asked to sit out of couple of tournaments. Their test scores are really dismal and they should not be playing any tests. If world cup 2007 is focus, its going to have only ODIs. Let them practise and come back for the ODIs, me says. Will give them ample rest and recharge them.

The master continues to struggle and the Mumbai crowd have boo-ed him off. Great that I am actually sitting away in HK and not there. I brushed shoulders with Dean Jones and Boycott at the Oberoi twins. So much was to come out of this game...and in the end flying out to HK was not bad.

Old Love in New Mumbai

A Grandpa and a Grandma always got very excited when they recalled the old days they were together. They made a decision, one day, to make it "yesterday once more". They made a date to visit the restaurant on the marine drive they used to frequent when they were young.

The next day, grandpa got up 6 a.m. in the morning, dashed to the bank, picked up a big bunch of wild flowers before sunrise, waited there for his sweetheart to come.

But Grandpa ended up in disappointment as Grandma never showed up even after sunset.
Grandpa went home in such anger.

He opened the door, seeing Grandma lying on the sofa with her pillow.

He threw the flowers on the floor and questioned:

"Why didn't you come to our date?!!"

Grandma hid her head in the pillow and replied shyly:

"Mom didn't allow me to go..."

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2006 when...

1. You accidentally enter your password on
the microwave.

2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards
in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to
reach your family of 3.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the
desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with
friends and family is that they don't have
e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use
your cell phone to see if anyone is home
to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web
site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell
phone, which you didn't have the first 20
or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a
cause for panic and you turn around to go
and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line,
before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to
smile. : )

12. You're reading this and nodding and
laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom
you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no
#9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check
that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

AND NOW U R LAUGHING at yourself.

Go on, forward this to your friends ...you
know you want to! -

From The Pier

I am back again at the CX BC lounge...Having stuffed myself with caesar salad, tuna and egg salad mini sandwiches, I topped it with a slice of choco-chip cake.
And I didn't stop just there...8 xiao long baos, one small bowl of cream of broccoli soup, one fruit salad and an apple juice later I was breathing much better...
hehehe...Well, that was brunch...I will get meal on the plane and then land at Mumbai around 8pm IST. From there I will be picked up by the hotel transport service and check-in at the Oberoi...Hmm. Wonder whether I will get any chances to photograph the Queen's Necklace tonight...
Wah..I gotta rush off now...just time enough to pop into the book store before I board the plance...That's it then...Cya, Folks!!

Irish beer

At a world brewing convention in the States, the CEOs of various
brewing organizations retired to the bar at the end of each day's
conference.

Bruce, CEO of Fosters, shouted to the Barman, "In 'Strylya, we make the
best bloody beer in the world, so pour me a bloody Fosters, mate."

Bob, CEO of Budweiser, calls out next, "In the States, we brew the
finest beers of the world, and I make the king of them all, gimme a
Bud."

Hans steps up next, "In Germany, ve invented das beer, ferdamt. Give me
ein Becks, ya ist der real King of beers, danke."
Paddy, CEO of Guinness, steps forward, "Barman, would ya give me a Diet
Coke with ice and lemon? Tanks."

The others stare at him in stunned silence, amazement written all over
their faces.
Eventually Bruce asks, "Are you not going to have a Guinness, Pat?"
Paddy replies, "Well, if you fookin' pansies aren't drinkin', then
neither am I!

Hmm

Sorry, Folks!! Been quite some time!! I have been busy moving home, getting the internet connections, cable tv, broadband tv, etc sorted out...with carpet cleaners and movers everybody scheduled for that one long day!!
The packers arrived sharp at 11am and I had not even begun the kitchen area. They just put everything into the big boxes and started taking everything to the waiting lorry downstairs...All that stuff could actually fill only 1/3 of the space!!. Crazy!
Anyways, the netvigator guy left without checking the internet connection, I was too scared to hunt and assemble the PC...the packers had filled up the boxes in a very unorganised manner...imagine all boxes carrying similar stuff...where can you locate that thing you want to!!
In the end I found that some of my kitchen stuff was missing!! All the lovely glass covers of my cookingware and an almost unopened cuttlery set.
Thanks to C for helping me unpack and setting up so many things which would have taken me ages to do...Finally it looks like a home...
Listening to a lot of Il Divo these days...the voice and rendition somehow evokes memories from a distant life that I want to find more about...I have to go on that trip to Europe!!
Finally, managed to get confirmed tickets on business class to India. It was waitlisted for over a week...thanks to Marco Polo...I got it...
So much still left to do. The Physio said that I am shaping up well and should take more care to sit straight and extend....'stick your bum and your chest out'....that's for the rest of my life....too bad I could not jump in for even a single class of QG with MC...well after having seen how embarrassed he was to see my Mask act at spring dinner, I am not so sure I should go near him again...My act is for spreading smiles not to embarrass people...
Coming back to that trip..Yo..I am gonna be there for 4-5 weeks punctuated by a single trip back to HK for my physio and life ;-)).
So may be next time will be from Mumbai, another city that never stops...
Oh and by the way after a nightmarish figuring out of which cable goes where...I wrote down the logic in which I should approach re-installing the modem and wireless router...and I finally got it right...so HaPpY...hehehe...
Mom was carrying 17K extra baggage on the way back..hope she can carry it to Ctc from ND on her own...She was planning to go watch - Rang De Basanti - tonight. Hope she enjoyed it...I have been too rushed to chat with her this week...just a wild wild rush.
I plan to watch as many movies at the South Mumbai theatre and buy music CDs especially Lama Tashi's Tibetan Sacred Chants...
Meanwhile my collection keeps on growing and there are now two cabinet full of all the stuff from eyes to toes!! And doesn't stop because C manages to find something new all the time.
I am so worried about the midnight binges and all that chocolate and ice-cream...Its all fat...And no I am not talking about myself...not after I had sore throat following the dumb iced-lemon-tea...during this freezing week in HK..Yeah temp touched 9 deg yet again..chi sin..is this HK or what?! I shall not be surprised if it starts snowing next year..or even next week..
Updating my ipod with a lot of music to keep me on my toes...I need to find those books and clothes..that I need to dump into the blue suitcase and set off on the mission to tame the God of Thunder.
It was cruel to wash down the five of them via toilet...so poor...especially when the blind one managed to stay back in the U. It was a painful act but had to be done because when I am in India there was nobody to take care of them...This is the reason why I shall never keep pets again...fishes in office are ok because my colleagues will help me out. But should not keep anything at home...
And when am I going to get those curtains...living in this glass-house is so strange...during the day I am more worried about people looking in...when it is dark...and the home is so well-lit with those dim yellow lights...I somehow seem to focus only inside the house and forget that my life is actually a Truman Show for anybody who is walking their dog on the high street behind...
Sleeping in the moonlight is so much fun..it brings back memories of so many incidents in college...including the lovely story Robot and I had co-authored....and those DMW jokes involving Venks...hahaha...He is a father now...most of my friends have married and have children...how does it feel?
Bad because I shall never have a child of my own...I would rather adopt than create one...there are so many children needing parents...only if I could have a child to take care of...yeah I am a mother inside...accept it or not...I think most of my friends know that...some like it some don't...especially when their moms would request me to take care of them on trips...chi sin...I wanted to enjoy too...but I would normally end up being in-charge of safety or food, etc...It was crazy but fun...hahaha.....
My last flat's land lord was quite emotional. Not easy to notice but I could tell being the sensitive person I am...I took some pics of the place when I left...so empty...my last look at the flat that was with me through so many phases...
So until I blog again....to you and you...take care...I willy be back.
