School expels girl for having gay parents

Now, thats very unfair to the child and the parents. May be they should find a school that is better than this crappy place. And also sue them in the process...

Chappell's e-mail to the BCCI

Due to comments made by Mr Sourav Ganguly during the press conference following his innings in the recently completed Test match in Bulawayo and the subsequent media speculation I would like to make my position clear on two points.

1. At no stage did I ask Mr Ganguly to step down from the captaincy of the Indian team and;

2. At no stage have I threatened to resign my position as Indian team coach.

Serious matter:

AIDS! What's your company doing?

Cricinfo - Chappell questions Ganguly's attitude

Cricinfo - Chappell questions Ganguly's attitude: "On his part, Ganguly told the Bengali language newspaper, Ananda Bazar Patrika 'Yes I have heard about the mail'. He added, 'I will say whatever I want to to the board. I hope the board will give me a chance to explain. You can imagine the character of a person who within hours of a truce goes and writes such an e-mail.'"

Enough is Enough. Dada, its time to Tata.

India's marathon boy, aged three

India has its newest and shortest sporting hero. When Budhia Singh strayed on to a sports ground and got into mischief, the local coach punished him by ordering the three-year-old Indian slum boy to run laps around the track. When he arrived back five hours later to find the boy still running, he realised he had stumbled upon a real life version of the fictional Forrest Gump.

This is what my friend MH told me (no racist implications) - "In australia he'd be a hero and his family would be supported. In India they give him some running shoes. It's incredible the difference being born in the western world means (no offence, but you know what I mean). It's wrong isn't it."

So true. Why do sportsmen get paid so lowly in India? And I am not talking about cricket. No proper infrastructure to back them up, no proper training facilities, no incentives, no money...just their will power and love for the sport keeps sportsmen and sportswomen going on.
And few of them resort to performance enhancing drugs in order to achieve the superstardom assigned to the lucky few that get medals and headlines at world meets.

Wish this boy all the luck as he is from a very poor background and hope the state can really do something for him. I would not mind donating towards his education or training. But is there a way to do that? I shall have to find out...

Sony Ericsson K750i - My new phone

I bought this baby yesterday to replace my Samsung SGH - E608 which has served me well for almost a year now. I went for this since the camera on Samsung sucks and I had lots of headache in storing contact information. And since DNG, EK and CL moved for this one and SN pitched in with sales...hmm it was hard to resist :-P I got it HK$400 cheaper because I bought it from a lesser known store. I am gonna be here for sometime, so if something goes wrong, I will become terminator and eliminate their shop. Well, actually the people were very friendly and helpful.
So I replaced this one...

With this one...

Book Review : The Parsifal Mosaic by Robert Ludlum

After having rushed through the Bourne series and finding that I want more of RL, I accepted SN's suggestion to pick up some from the library. I prefer paperbacks as they are easy to carry, light in weight and very compact. But the font size sucks, especially for 500+ page novels. So I picked one up with ok font size and very heavy. Almost a kilo I think!
Michael Havelock was Mikhail Havelick before he was adopted and move to USA. His childhood was spent in fight against the forces that tore his family apart and forced him to survive in the jungles. Skills that he learned during that time were what went into making him a very fine tuned secret service agent for the US.
The story begins with Havelock witnessing the love of his life being shot to death. She was proven to be a double agent for the Russians. And it was a decision that affected him so much that he left the foreign service and decided to go back to teaching at college.
One last time, before he started his new life, he went back to Europe, to all those places where he had been before but had not had the time to do some sightseeing. Life changes suddenly when he comes across people from his past life. They are trying to find out the secret he knows. Only this time, he doesn't know what secret is stored in what corner of his brain. And to double it all, he sights his dead lover get off a train! He realizes that she is not dead! And he must find her, to tell her how sorry he was and how much he loves her still! But this time she is on the run. She thinks that he wants to kill her. And thus begins the hunt from one place to another until he catches up with her. And they discover that there is a much bigger force at play. She had been lied to. She had been told that Havelock was trying to kill her and that he was a double agent. Someone had tried to tear them apart from each other. Why?!!
Havelock's search for his friend, mentor and pseudo-father - Anton Matthias takes him to Pooles Island. What he learns there changes his life and thinking forever. He realizes that his past problems were nothing in comparision to this newly learned one.
Read it to find out more...I cannot tell you the whole story now, you know :-)

This is a fast paced story and with well-packed twists and heroism (just like the Bourne series). I could not stop myself from thinking about Havelock on the same lines as Bourne. And you go to the same places in both the story. The same respect towards jungle and similar skills in getting out of tight situations...I loved the lady character too. She is shown as tough, clever and beautiful. She matches Havelock head to head in so many ways and to read about them thinking out possibilities is pretty cool. Robert Ludlum scores again...I am turning into his fan now! Soon you will see some blades, I am mutating into one as we speak...ok that was a bad joke. Hehehe!

There's a Seoul in my Soul...

Seoul. A place I had to go to on numerous business trips over the past few months. Seoul, a place I enjoy very much everytime I am there.
However the departure on sunday was a sad and confused one. I also made up my mind to avail of the sky lounge facilities everytime from now onwards. I am now a silver member of the Marco Polo club :-) I hope I can achieve the required sectors/miles to keep that status this year too ;-).
The customs official at Incheon airport went through each article in my bags, from laptop to eye moisturizer to osim iTango to underwear! Never felt this crazy before!! I had to use Korean accent while speaking in English so that he would understand ;-). I was carrying the wife cakes for the dealing team. I was not so sure whether I needed to declare those...he was ok about it...otherwise I would have had to pay 100s of 1000s of KRW. :-(

This time I caught up with old friend Woosung and said goodbye to Cecilia. But of course we shall meet again sometime in the future. ;-)

Woosung could not make it to the airport and so he met me at the Westin lobby and we left for Gangnam from where we caught the subway to arrive at COEX mall. We had dinner there at the Cafe Mix & Bake. Later on we went to the Marriott. Boringly empty...
But this is a snap of an interesting thing. In the movie - My Sassy Girl, the lady made her lover wear her high heels and walk because she wanted to wear his comfortable sneakers. This is a real life adaptation of that. The poor boyfriend was made a fool wearing his girlfriend's high heels and limping around.

Well, some may find it very romantic. But the fact is that she was very inconsiderate and selfish. If heels were not comfortable she should have worn something more comfortable from home. Anyways, this something rare in a land where man dominates over woman.
On monday night, Cecilia took me out to my favourite Korean restaurant - Hwa Sun, to have another memorable go at the Kooksoo Chongol. Hite and Sungwoo joined us. Thanks!

I flew back on Tuesday night.
Its the friendly people I will miss the most - JY, Nari, Juyeon, Younga. The all girls dealing team! Smart, funny, caring and lovely people that will miss me very much I know. :-( I thought I would ask them all to come together for a snap...but the schedule was so hectic that I just did not find time to do that one small thing...Too bad, AD!! Poor!!
And boy those long rides to and from the Incheon airport! :-) Scenic!

Hot News: Apple Computer iPod nano

Click on the image to view iPOD Nano specs

The iPod nano is the hottest thing right now. SN has already bought a black one online. But the motoipod phone I was waiting for (and hoping that the preview was a hoax) was a big BIG LET DOWN! (Motorola ROKR Cell Phone Seen As Disappointment) I have to look for another phone now. :-(
With both SN and SC opting for O2 Mini, I have to go for another one...;-)) Hehehe

iPod Nano TV AD

This is how the Rokr sucks next to the MotoRazr. SUCKS BIG TIME!

Here are some accessories which are very very cute. The smartwrap is an essential for us tall people who have opted to use non-Apple earphones. Apple earphones SUCK too. They are badly-shaped and cause a lot of pain if not ear-ache.
