"HMV's digital service, which took a year and £10m to develop, is a tie-up between the group, Microsoft, the world's biggest computer company, and MusicNet, a US digital music provider."iTunes prices have been puzzling music buyers and may be this signals that the war is far from over.
Anyways, buyers come out winners in these kind of wars...so just wait and watch.

World's safest N-reactor by India
"India unveils 'world's safest nuclear reactor'"New Google Talk Offers Instant Messaging & Voice Chat
Danny Sullivan gives a good picture of what is going on with Google and how it fares with its tools. The entry sees Google directly competing against the much more mature clients and established user bases of competitors Yahoo and MSN, not to mention its own partner AOL. The move also opens Google up to accusations that it is way off its mission of "to organize the world's information." Heck, Google Talk doesn't even feature a box to let you search for things, as rival products from AOL and Yahoo do.

Movie Review : Love Letter (1995, Japanese)
Love Letter (1995, Japanese)
"A contemporary Japanese love story, about two women who loved the same man, who write letters to each other about him and discover in the process that the past isn't what they thought it was." - Reviewed by Shelly Kraicer at the 1995 Toronto International Film Festival
The story opens on a snowy mountain followed by a funeral which Hiroko Watanabe attends. Her fiancé was killed in a climbing accident. On the way back, she visits his mother and comes across a yearbook of his school days. She finds an address there for her dead lover – Itsuki Fujii. The address is not supposed to exist any longer as a highway should be running through that place. She sends a letter addressed to him…and surprisingly gets a response back. This correspondence keeps on until she decides to go and meet the person writing to her and yet misses her by a whisker.
The person replying to the letters is a class-mate of her dead lover by the same name. Their correspondence grows and they write to each other about the memories of the common person trying to discover more about him. In the process, the classmate learns that even though she was never in love with her namesake, she really did feel about him. In the end she finds out that the shy boy classmate was actually in love with her. Hiroko realizes that though she loved Itsuki very much and he loved her back, it was not love at first sight. He had fallen in love with Hiroko because her face resembled his namesake classmate’s. It is a touching romantic story that had me in tears at three different places. A must watch for all.

BSE goes public after 130 years
Asia's oldest exchange BSE, which is now a profit-making body from a non-profit association of brokers, will offer 51 per cent of its equity to the public. The timing wouldn't have been better as the 'BSE Sensex', the most popular index in the country, is right now hovering over 7,800 points in the last one week.
BSE, as the largest stock exchange in the country, has more than 4,600 companies on its board, approximately five times the number of companies listed on National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The average daily turnover of the Exchange during the financial years 2003-2004 and 2004-05 (April-March), was Rs 1978.81 crore and Rs 2050.26 crore respectively.
The average number of daily trades recorded during the financial years 2003-2004 and 2004-05 (April-March) was 7.98 lakh and 9.38 lakh respectively.
Now there is going to be greater competition between BSE and NSE after corporatisation of this 130-year-old exchange.
The Stock Exchange, Mumbai, popularly known as `BSE' was established in 1875 as `The Native Share and Stock Brokers Association'. It is even older than the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which was established in 1878. It was a voluntary non-profit making Association of Persons (AOP) and from today it would be a demutualised and corporate entity. From a small beginning, now most of the policies are dictated based on the movements in the BSE.

Noizrulz has a go at cricket in India...
"Cricket! My house is situated on the dead-end of a road. There is therefore, little scope for any traffic and plenty of scope to park vehicles in absolutely any whimsical fashion. Some of my neighbours even spread bedsheets and papads to dry in the sun. I know because I have heard the papads crackle under my tyres a couple of times! On a hot summer night, some neighbours even get their char-pais out on the street. A marriage function in any house, and a pandal promptly comes up right in the middle, serving as an open air lunch hall for all the guests. What more could you fit in such a road, did you ask? Kids playing Cricket! And there are a plenty of them kids. Give us Indians a square foot of your space, and we'll invent a new form of the game complete with a new set of rules to play it! "

Mui Wo camp

9 people - 1 stormy weekend - 1 remote island. What more could you ask for? Well, 4 more people! Hahaha. It was a fun-filled getaway after such a long time with some of my new friends.
Saturday, always a boring day to work on. But I was supposed to go to office early. But I was late. I have misplaced the shorts I wanted to wear on that day and I spent 1 hour looking for them...to no avail. As usual office was fixed with tags if you know what I mean.
The Typhoon signal stayed stuck at 1 even though we had some good thunderstorms...I managed to squeeze out time to get a new pair of shorts from Espirit - my favourite brand...makes one look younger :-)).
So off we went to Central Outlying ferry piers braving the bad weather, on the slow boat to Mui Wo on Lantau Island. The BB gang & co had booked a house at one of the hotels for the weekend.
We arrived there around 7 something & very hungry. I had a go at my favourite mango ice cream at the MacD. Sad, but I had to share it with flat face Kelly Chen (her face stuck out from the table top). Gotta give it to MacD people for being so insensitive towards their customers' feelings. Chi Sin!
We met a lot of friends and went for dinner. Soon the skies opened up and the winds whipped up enough energy to blow you off your feet if you were not careful. Angels Leo and Billy got us some raincoats which we put on to keep dry...well Carina could not manage to do that somehow. ;-) Allison helped us carry the extra bag and we went down to the hotel through the overflowing streets...Mars had fun kicking water up everybody's back. Finally, we reached the place. It was a cool 2 BHK. Large, spacious, and enough for all of us and more. After quick showers, we sat down to have a go at UNO. It was the second time I was playing that game. Frankly, the first time I had played with Funnylanders, I was bored to death. This time I was pushed to stay awake...BB are so fast and I was such a novice....Actually, I was doing pretty well until Mars decided to send down those 400 extra points...just kidding..
it was bad luck that's all. It was pretty late when we hit the sack. I remember waking up early to find that everybody was still asleep...we stayed so until Allison finished her qigong...Yeah I am going to join a course next week! Watch out for more on the same later. Some of us wanted to go to the big Buddha to have a good veggy lunch until someone found out that it is not as tasty as it is supposed to be...So we went to the beach instead...I joined the others in the water...it seemed too much fun to resist...seeing them swim, throw mud, form water trains and carrying each other was so much fun..
It was just poor Allison and myself who were the quietest...Until the rash on my back made me feel so itchy that I went out for a shower...Soon Japan boy joined us. It is so kind of him and real man to offer to translate the qigong course to me...THANKS! Coco and Shera joined us later.
We got out of the beach and went to rent bicycles. It was so much fun riding around the small town. I did some fast pedalling to see how the machine was...I mean my legs. It felt wonderful to sweat from exercise after such a long time! I have been out of action for 10 months and it was quite an emotional experience...I just did rounds and rounds and rounds until we lost each other and finally decided to stick together...
We went to a temple on the way back to the house. Mars and Allison started doing qigong..they are like machines...they can start and stop at their own will anytime, anywhere. AMAZING!After we reached home, Japan boy cooked us a fantastic dinner of dumplings, sausages and vegetables. I ate so much...I had to skip the dessert. I had gobbled up some white chocolate earlier...sad but true...I can feel my waistline going up from 33" over this past weekend...:-((
Then it was a round of UNO after Charles joined us. I did manage to stay 2nd in points...I mean I almost became the loser...had it not been for poor Charles :-)) Playing UNO with 10 people calling cut at any time is not easy, but it sure is very exciting!!!I had to turn in early hoping to catch the early boat to Central...We left while the others were still sleeping after a long, tiring and exciting night...I heard they even had a go at mah-jong. :-))
We had to return our bicycles on the way back...
In short, a very nice trip and thanks to everyone who made it a success - Mars, AD (hehehe), Allison, Carina, Japan Boy, Leo, Bowie, Snowie, Wai Yin, Charles, Coco, Shera, and the most gentle Billy!

THE INDEPENDENCE DAY
A Story by Deepak Jeswal
This is a fast paced story that involves everything from bombs to Lata Mangeshkar, from USA to Nepal to India, from killers to patriots, from love to anger - in short all that a good bollywood flick would be made of...hmmm...even good enough for hollywood. If you see this story in the form of a movie soon, don't tell me I didn't predict it!
Have a go at it!

BBC NEWS | South Asia | Mumbai's looming ecological disaster
BBC NEWS | South Asia | Mumbai's looming ecological disaster: "If Mumbai's unprecedented rainfall is an early warning of global warming and rising sea levels, the city will 'become an island again, be it with rain water or sea water'.In the next 50 years, the storm drains that carry rainwater out of Mumbai could be bringing sea water in, even at low tide, Mr Goenka prophesies.
'People should be moving out of Mumbai, not moving in,' he says.
'This city is a sinking ship.' "
